Every year, Reel Rock brings a new selection of the best climbing films on tour worldwide, and through our new streaming platform, Reel Rock Unlimited.

Founded in 2005 by Josh Lowell, Peter Mortimer, and Nick Rosen - creators of the iconic feature documentaries Valley Uprising, The Dawn Wall and The Alpinist - Reel Rock has grown into the premier global platform for award-winning climbing films.

Assistant Editor & Post-Production Coordinator

Tessa Fredericks

Tessa attended the University of Oregon where she graduated with a Film degree, an emphasis on documentary filmmaking. She has worked as a production coordinator, editor and videographer for California based companies, working on projects pillared in the realm of social impact and sustainability before joining the Sender team. Her interests lie in telling raw stories of resilience, empowerment and great feats. During her off time, Tessa is a (casual) rock climber, outdoor enthusiast and food aficionado.

Editor

Josh Minor

Josh is a Boulder native and a graduate from the University of Colorado with a BFA degree in filmmaking. He works on the annual Reel Rock tour, was an assistant editor on The Dawn Wall, and edited the feature-length documentary The Alpinist. Outside of work, Josh enjoys playing soccer, rocking out with his band, being a dog dad, traveling, and hanging out with family and friends. 

Tour Director

Vanessa Lampson

Vanessa oversees the global marketing and distribution of Reel Rock, in addition to managing strategic partnerships and leading in new technology development. After attending Vassar College, she spent the next decade as a sommelier before joining the Sender team. Vanessa splits her time between Boulder, CO and the north shore of Maui, where you can find her baking sourdough, learning new songs on the ukulele and scoping the best longboard breaks.

Cinematographer

Brett Lowell

Brett is a photographer and cinematographer based in New York. He has traveled the world for over two decades capturing historic moments of the best climbers of our generation. Working in collaboration with Big UP Productions and Sender Films, Brett has been a key cinematographer for several Reel Rock and feature films, including Valley Uprising, The Dawn Wall, and The Alpinist.

In-house producer

Greg Laut

Greg has been a core member of the team for the better part of a decade and worked on films such as The Alpinist and The Dawn Wall. A Colorado native, Greg received his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Colorado before joining Reel Rock. Outside of working on epic films with Reel Rock, Greg is a musician and composer. His songs have been featured in numerous Reel Rock productions and he has scored and created theme music for podcasts. 

Associate Producer

Halle Johns

Halle has a background in documentary film production, as well as educational and political media production. Prior to landing at Sender, she edited and produced projects for organizations such as Blue State Digital, Harvard University, Warren for President, Compass Light Productions, and Wicked Delicate Films. She studied Rhetoric at Bates College, and received a graduate certificate in Documentary Studies from the SALT Institute.

Executive Producer

Zachary Barr

Zac's career in media began at StoryCorps in New York where he was a producer for the NPR-backed oral history project. He worked as a reporter and producer at Colorado Public Radio for several years before coming to Sender Films in 2013. He graduated from Lewis and Clark College and studied audio storytelling at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies.

Dylan Goerner

Dylan is excited to be joining the Sender Films team bringing together his two passions, filmmaking and love for the outdoors. A seven year Video/Cinema graduate at Denver School of the Arts with a degree in Post Production from Colorado Film School, he continues to pursue his goals of telling stories through video editing. Outside the office, you can find him climbing up hills and rock faces or teaching his niece how to ski.

Peter Mortimer

Peter grew up in Boulder, Colorado where he learned to rock climb as a kid and made his first home videos of climbing and skiing exploits with friends. After graduating with a geology degree from Colorado College, Peter made his first "real" climbing film (Scary Faces, starring Zac Barr) then went on to get his MFA in film at USC. He's blended his life-long passion for climbing, travel & adventure with his love of telling stories about the incredible people he's met along the way. Peter lives in Boulder with his wife Joss, daughter Pia, son Xavi, and little dogs Macho and Gnarly. 

Financial Manager

Cassie Pintal

Cassie has loved managing the finances for Reel Rock and Sender Films since 2011. Having grown an accounting firm with a team that services the entertainment industries nationally, specializing in independent film- her start was here with this crew. She has a deep pride in the cinematic gems they create, and the wild success of their vision.  Cassie was raised in Australia and has spent the better part of her life in Colorado, skiing, biking and salsa dancing.

Nick Rosen

Nick received his BA in political science from Colorado College, and his masters at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs. Nick began working as a writer, producer & director for Sender in 2005, and since then has created award-wining feature films, TV programs and creative campaigns. Nick lives in Boulder, Colorado with his partner and two kids.

Josh Lowell

Josh co-founded Reel Rock and has been producing and directing award-winning adventure films for over 15 years. Born into a filmmaking family with a camera in his hand, Josh took a brief detour to the front side of the lens at the age of 6, starring in his father’s Academy Award-nominated short film. But he has since returned to his comfort zone - behind the camera - poring over a script, or grinding away in the edit suite. 

Graphic Designer

Barry Thompson

Barry is an Emmy Award-winning freelance motion graphics designer based out of Missoula, Montana. He creates compelling visual title designs and still image composites for films, documentaries & commercials. He loves collaborating with teams to tell their inspiring stories. Barry is also a fine artist, painting landscapes and adventures from his home turf and his travels.
